Washington Irving Future
Fair |
|
On Wednesday April
25th, the USP Education Program held its inaugural
Future Fair at Washington Irving High School.
The fair provided those students who are unsure about
attending a four-year collge with the opportunity
to explore alternative degree programs upon
graduation. Over 100
students attended the two-hour event that featured
career and trade institutions, such as Nontraditional Employment for Women,
Catherine-Gibbs School, Culinary Academy of New York, Technical Career Institute, Plaza Business School, The Chubb Institute, Sanford Brown Institute, and Kingsborough Community College.
Washington Irving
student, Marilyn Martinez, attended the event and after
speaking with a representative from Sanford Brown,
is now excited about exploring the possibility
of becoming a medical assistant. "I was
really unsure and confused about what I should do after
high school. I never realized that all of these
opportunities were possible," said Martinez.
The Future Fair received exceptional reviews from both
students and faculty. To participate in the
next fair, please email info@unionsquarenyc.org.

Message from Greenmarket Manager Davy
Hughes |
|
It's been a long and cold winter winter and now that
spring is here, the Greenmarket Farmers' Market in Union
Square is in full swing. To those producers who endured
the winter and kept us in good stead with their winter
fair, I know USP joins me in saluting each and
every one of you. To our loyal customers, farmers
are returning with fresh, seasonal produce. This
month at Greenmarket you can expect to find: asparagus,
rhubarb, spinach, ramps, radishes, sugar snaps,
broccoli rabe, morels, garlic and plants
galore - just to name some of the season's
bounty. Union Square's Greenmarket is
open every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday
from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM. We thank you for eating local and supporting small family farms to
build better community
relationships. |
