Falk Appointed Executive
Director

The Union Square Partnership (USP)
Board of Directors announced the appointment of Jennifer
E. Falk, currently First Deputy Press Secretary for
Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and spokeswoman for Deputy
Mayor of Economic Development and Rebuilding Daniel L.
Doctoroff, as Executive Director. In her new role,
which will become effective January 3, 2007, Falk will
work closely with the Partnership's Board of Directors
and the organization's many partners in the public and
private sectors, to continue enhancing the 14th Street -
Union Square neighborhood as one of the most vibrant in
the city.

| Holiday Market Opens in
Union Square

The Union Square Park Holiday Market opens next
Friday, November 24 and runs through December 24.
Come explore what NY1 calls "the closest thing you can
find to Santa's workshop!" Browse and buy handmade
crafts and specialty items at over 100 vendor booths. The Market is
open from 11 A.M.-8 P.M. Monday through Saturday and
from 10 A.M.-7 P.M. on Sundays. Visit the USP's
Information Kiosk, which will be located nearby the
Ghandi statue subway entrance, for giveaways,
neighborhood information and helpful shopping tips.

NYU Students Donate to the USP's
Education Program
|
Representatives of New York University's Coral
Tower Residence Hall presented a check for $393,
and a large crate of school supplies, to the Union
Square Partnership After-School Program. The
supplies and funds were collected at September's USP
Back-To-School Event. The donation will help fund the
purchase of stools for the new science labs at
Washington Irving. Thank you to all the NYU
students, faculty and staff for the much-appreciated
donations!

Experiences with WIHS
Students

Success Day, the
annual education event hosted by the USP, offers
Washington Irving High School students the opportunity
to explore a range of careers and a variety of
industries. Over 70 volunteers representing the
arts, law, not-for-profit, new media, government,
finance, and a wide array of other industries came to
Washington Irving High School on Wednesday, November 15
to speak about their lives and their careers.
Local City Councilmember Rosie Mendez kicked off the
event with a warm welcome to all the
volunteers.

The Daryl Roth Theatre and Union Square welcome
STRIKING 12, a rock and roll holiday musical.
STRIKING 12, directed by Tony Award winner Ted Sperling
(The Light in the Piazza), is the story of a grumpy guy
who decides to avoid the hectic, loveless world on New
Year's Eve, until he's visited by an incandescent sales
girl promising to chase away his winter doldrums.
STRIKING 12's limited engagement runs through December

CACNY to Collect and Distribute Holiday Gifts for Needy
Children in NYC |

Amalgamated Bank is conducting a toy and clothing
drive at its branches.The collected gifts will be
distributed to 2,500 homeless and underprivileged
children throughout the city. As a first-time
major sponsor of Caribbean American Center of New York's
(CACNY) 9th Annual Holiday celebration, Amalgamated Bank
will accept unwrapped toys and clothes for children one
to 10 years of age as well as financial

The Theodore Roosevelt Association will celebrate
the spirit of TR by hosting the Teddy's Bears for Kids
Benefit at the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace Museum, 28
E. 20th St., on Wednesday, December 6th, 6-9 P.M. The
Benefit costs $50 in advance and $60 at the door.
Join comedian Greg Giraldo at a
great cocktail party in a beautiful space and help raise
money to purchase teddy bears that will be distributed
to children in New York City hospitals during the
