Community Resources Manager: Lanthy Truong

The Union Square Partnership is delighted to spotlight Lanthy Truong in this month's newsletter.  Lanthy has been working with the Partnership since April of 2004 as our Community Resources Manager.  Lanthy is a member of our education team, doing great work for Washington Irving High School. Lanthy holds a Bachelors in Cognitive Science from the University of Virginia.  Lanthy hopes to raise awareness and increase support for Washington Irving High School students through greater volunteer and business involvement. Volunteers are an integral part of the programs at WIHS. Last year there were over 100 people volunteering in our various programs. Lanthy and the other members of our education team are currently recruiting volunteers for their ESL Mentoring, Mentoring, Homework Help Tutoring, and Math Tutoring programs for the 2006-2007 school year. If you are interested in getting involved, information sessions and orientations will begin in September. Please contact Lanthy at truongla@coned.com for dates and applications. In addition, the student employment initiative, which prepares students for the workforce by providing them with the necessary tools to apply for, interview, and secure a job, is being expanded. If you or your company are interested in hiring students and providing them with their first employment opportunity, contact Lanthy today and start making a difference in Union Square.
