Torch & Crown Returns to Union Square Park

Torch & Crown Brewing Company and Union Square Partnership announce the return of Torch & Crown Beer Garden, a seasonal beer garden in the popular Union Square Park Pavilion dining space. Known as “Manhattan’s Brewery,” Torch & Crown is once again bringing their celebrated locally-brewed beers to the indoor/outdoor venue in Union Square Park, marking their second location in New York City. The restaurant opened Wednesday, May 1, ready to kick off the 2024 summer season.

Centrally-located on the north plaza of Union Square Park, Torch & Crown Beer Garden returns as the neighborhood’s backyard for summer in the city. The restaurant features breezy, open-air dining with a bar and communal seating, TVs for live sports, outdoor lawn games, and a family-friendly environment with high chairs and changing tables to accommodate children. Pets are also welcome! Torch & Crown Beer Garden provides an inviting, casual atmosphere for everyone to socialize and enjoy a great meal with new and classic draft brews, a full menu including beer garden staples and seasonal Greenmarket offerings, as well as a weekly slate of events and programming throughout the spring into early fall.

“We created Torch & Crown to provide a unique and energetic gathering place for the New York City community,” said John Dantzler, co-founder and CEO of Torch & Crown. “We want our Union Square beer garden to function as the city’s backyard, and in our second year of operating the space we will bring new event experiences and a revamped food menu.”

“Torch & Crown Beer Garden exemplifies the unique, authentic, and immersive New York City experiences that residents, workers, and visitors can find in Union Square,” said Julie Stein, Executive Director at Union Square Partnership. “We look forward to supporting their team in delivering a community-centric approach to hospitality that adds to the overall vibrancy of our neighborhood.”

Proudly brewed in New York City, Torch & Crown offers a wide range of beers from New England-Style IPAs, like their flagship Almost Famous, to crisp lagers such as Tenement. The Union Square Park location serves a food menu of snacks and shareable dishes, all featuring ingredients sourced from the Green Market. Menu highlights include homemade pizza, fried chicken sandwiches, and burgers. Cocktails, wines, and non-alcoholic beverages are also available, as well as catering and beer delivery. Torch & Crown Beer Garden will host a robust calendar of programming and events such as morning yoga, jazz brunches, and weekend cookouts, some of which will be in partnership with local businesses. Torch & Crown looks forward to celebrating PRIDE this June, followed by an Oktoberfest-inspired Torchfest coming in late September.

After launching its first NYC restaurant in SoHo in October 2020, Torch & Crown welcomed nearly 100,000 guests through the front door in just one year and has continued to see success and enthusiasm from New Yorkers and visitors alike. Torch & Crown’s mission stays strong - to embody the ambition, vibrancy, diversity, and progress that defines NYC; and bring NYC closer to beer than it’s ever been before.

“Last year, Torch & Crown helped to enhance the vibrancy of Union Square Pavilion and Union Square Park by providing delicious food, beverages, and a great lineup of events” said NYC Parks Borough Commissioner Tricia Shimamura. “We are looking forward to partnering with them on their second season of a successful activation in this premier greenspace.”

Torch & Crown Beer Garden officially opened its doors on May 1, 2024 and is open through October 31, 2024. Hours of operation are Mondays - Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Thursday - Saturdays from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM and Sundays from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
