Billy Bragg

Billy Bragg, the prolific and acclaimed singer-songwriter whose blend of folk traditions with punk-rock and protest elements has won him fans all over the world, dives into the phenomenon that presaged the heyday of British rock and roll with its own blend of  jazz, blues, folk, and American roots music--Skiffle. In Roots, Radicals and Rockers: How Skiffle Changed the World, Bragg chronicles the craze from its beginnings in the first generation of British "teenagers" as we've come to know them, through its rise to popularity and its influence on the charts at home and across the pond.

Join us at the Strand to hear from the author all about the first DIY rock movement, one that left its mark not just on the music of its era, but on the history of popular music itself.
