On March 5, The Yeshiva University Museum at the Center for Jewish History and MusicTalks will host The Israeli Songbook – A Tribute to Women Poets.
Ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8, this event recognizes the pivotal role women have played in shaping Israel’s culture and heritage. Many of Israel’s most popular songs are based on poems from acclaimed female artists, and this concert will give listeners a sampling of their landmark contributions. Just as the Great American Songbook traces the most important and influential American music, this event is part of a larger, first-of-its-kind effort to bring Israel’s history to life through music and create an Israeli songbook.
