Local artist Mike McManus will lead workshop participants in fabric and paper dying experiments as an artful act of releasing control. Colors and materials will be paired to create patterns, shapes and forms in dying baths and dry applications.

Participants will be introduced to multiple forms of dye including synthetic and natural dye. Fabrics will be immersed in fabric dye baths and participants will learn how to manipulate the fabric to form unique patterns with different resist techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring white or light colored fabric, such as t-shirts, canvas, bandanas, etc.
