Hope Count 2019

On Monday, January 28th, the NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS) will conduct its annual Homeless Outreach Population Estimate (HOPE), a citywide community volunteer effort to count every New Yorker sleeping on the street across the five boroughs during the coldest time of the year.

DHS is calling on fellow New Yorkers, to help canvass parks, subways, and other public spaces to estimate the number of people who find themselves living on the street. DHS needs thousands of volunteers to make HOPE a success.

The more volunteers that show up, the more accurate the count. The more accurate the count, the better DHS can allocate resources to those on the street.

Please visit here for more information and to register as a volunteer!
